Unresearched aviform bird mount

Copper-alloy, 20.65 grams, 42.45 mm. 9th-10th century AD. A cast model bird with a slightly dished underside. The head and body are decorated with pellets, the wings and tail with insised rectilinear detailing.

Further research foreseen !

Reference: Benet’s Artefacts pages 316-317 for similar but brooches. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
