Viking ‘Man and Birds’ Strap End

Copper alloy, 6.90 grams; 31.28 mm. Circa 9th – 11th Century A.D. In the centre in a cruciform man, outstretched arms and straight legs. He is being stretched by two large birds, each facing outwards their heads curled back biting the man’s shoulders. Very Fine condition.

Note: ‘the man with two birds’ are most likely representing Odin with his two raven.
